Long before the "dominance wave" of the 1990s infected the equine world with pressure-based training, there was a different kingdom. It was an open learning project: Communicative Horses. In that space, a herd of horses truly reigned as teachers, sharing their wordless wisdom with open-minded studentsโboth human and equine.ย
They taught the ancient, lost royal art of riding for the horse's health. They are gone, but almost all of them lived well into their thirties. Today, the last surviving guest is a thriving, vibrant mare of 34 years.
Everything I know today, and everything this website stands for, rests firmly on the monumental foundation they left behind.
